Hamilton Fashion Week showed up big time with their sold out event!

November 19, 2018

When it comes to fashion, I personally love to dress in local designs. I'm certain you've read a blog or two of mine raving about local designer Joan Kelley Walker and her passion and purpose approach to her brand, The Joan Kelley Walker Collection. Recently, I was given the honour to attend Hamilton Fashion Week as a special guest to both Keeley Davy and Anna Di Carlo of Forward Events + Design.

Hamilton Fashion Week founder Ken Biehler knows how to put on a show...a sold out show! When I was cordially invited to attend this years fashion event by the lovely ladies from Forward Event + Design, naturally I applied my favourite shade of lipstick and replied with a solid yes! Then, I called my stylist and asked her to be my plus one because, seriously, when it comes to fashion, your stylist should always be your guest. Besides her infectious laugh, gorgeous style and radiant beauty, Cristine Cordeiro Sloss from Hair Innovations Studio understands my love affair with all things fashion.

Celebrating the fifth year of Hamilton Fashion Week, Ken and his wife, co-executive producer of HFW Krystal Biehler, ensured success with everyone involved in this years event. The show that everyone is still talking about was elegantly showcased at The Royal Botanical Gardens; a larger venue from the previous years. With 12 designer and 2 seperate shows, HFW radiated glamour from every direction and angle. Each designer illuminated with pride as their designs graced the runway; especially, the newly launched design line, Eleanor Geraldine. The 1920's inspired line was purposefully fashioned for femininity, and it did not disappoint!

I was impressed with the high vibe atmosphere and variety of style each designer brought to the show. Among the talented designers stood a plethora of vendors all eager to market their unique product.

Although divergent to the extravagant fashion gala's I've recently attended in Toronto and surrounding areas, this show's unique approach and relaxed atmosphere worked well; allowing the focus to be placed solely on the designers.

The large line-up of talent warmed up the 7 pm opening show and continued to heat up the runway with an exclusive 9 pm show. Talented designers like The Thrifty Designer, Hot Mess Swimwear, QD Collection, Sara Susi and newly launched Eleanor Geraldine captured the hearts of each guest at the sold out event. Keeping with the diverse fashion theme, Designs By Merike, Uncinetto, Tashi Apparel, Engated Fashion, Mia Parese and Chavez Inc. added the perfect element to the night's eclectic synergy.

Organizing the biggest fashion party of the year is never an easy job, however, this years sponsors worked endlessly to help produce the best HFW to date. The cost effective entrance fee helped sell out both shows, however, it was the combined contribution of sponsors, designers, models, hair & make-up artists, photographers, organizers and patrons that skyrocketed their success this years.

The word on the street is that there may be an upcoming show in the spring. Until then, I will continue to twirl in my locally designed outfits, with my favourite shade of lipstick, of course! Oh, and if you are planning an event, look no further! The amazing and talented ladies from Forward Events + Design will take care of everything for you!

With love for all things fashion and perfectly designed,

Joanne
