What's Comfort Have To Do With It?
Hey ya'll. It's been a minute since I've personally brought you a blog. Actually, it's been almost 3 months since my last blog post and for good reason. Covid-19 hit the world hard! This virus literally drained our world of economics, our people of energy, ripped away our human connection, tore us from our friends, ripped our families apart, robbed us of huge milestones and has devastatingly taken way too many lives around the world. To say it's been hard is a complete understatement. But then, something happened.
An awakening of sorts hit me. I found myself focusing on too much of the negatives; which was sucking the life out of me. I became mindful of this new energy I was carrying around. An energy that was exhausting; even though I cut out most of my work so that I could be present for my kids. I found myself mopping around; trying to figure out how I was supposed to find joy in homeschooling. I kept trying to mask my unhappiness by implementing a morning workout routine. I figured if I kept active, I would eventually shift my mindset out of the funk I felt. I started to feel guilty that I wanted to work but I also knew that my kids needed my time to be their teacher, their confidant, their cooks, their nanny, their sounding boards, their art instructor and everything else under the sun. I started to feel overwhelmed. Too overwhelmed to even put myself together at the start of the day. I offered no apology for my natural look as I bit off the last of my gel polished nails. I watched as my once perfectly highlighted hair turned into a two tone hombre style and I stopped caring that I was only wearing yoga workout gear...on a daily. I mean, why bother looking nice when I had nowhere to go, right? I thought I had this whole isolation thing figured out and mastered at the two month mark. Boy was I wrong!
After signing up for TikTok and making it to the viral "for you page" with nearly 710,000 views, I still felt like I was missing something (see the viral video here). After countless zoom meet ups, virtual coffee dates, coaching online workshops, online classes and a few driveway visits, I knew I could never accept my current state as my new normal. I mean, who even likes that term anyway? It only took me 73 some odd days of quarantine to realize that this new normal could be anything I made it to be and just because I put away my gala dresses and Manolo's (for the time being) didn't mean I could appreciate putting myself together in chic casual clothing. Outfits that aloud me to be comfortable all day long as I slid into what felt like a hundred different careers a day. Meet The Curator
My name is Charlé. I am a 34 year old stay-at-home mom with 2 boys. I love them to pieces and man do they make life exciting! I went to school for Fashion Merchandising and Marketing and now that my boys are getting older, I have decided to put my education to use again and do something I'm passionate about, but can do from home.
For years I have worked on my style and I can honestly say I am still working on it. I don't think it's something you will ever stop working on. Life is always changing and evolving and what you feel comfortable in - what is undoubtedly you - will also change and evolve. That is what this site is all about. Finding out what is you! Nurturing your style and worrying less about what is "in fashion". I'm not saying that's not important. There are still fashionable items we can get excited about, I know I do, but it's not what should dictate your wardrobe. YOU dictate your wardrobe. Who you are and how you live dictates your wardrobe. What you feel confident and comfortable in is what should make up your closet. Finding out what these pieces are does not happen overnight. It's taken years for me. I'm finally finding out what my style is. Especially since I've changed from a working professional to a stay-at-home mom. I love that it's not just one thing that is me, it's a good mix and I'm more than okay with that.
