10 Things To Expect From People With Anxiety

Dreaming Outside The Lines

Do you know someone with anxiety? Do you know what it looks like, what it feels like? Perhaps you experience anxiety from time to time or know someone who does.

It's said that people who experience anxiety have higher IQ's. They are also known to be creative and sensitive. They are known to be high achievers with a passion to care, maybe too much.

Here is a list of 10 common things you can expect from someone with anxiety.

1. Expect to give them constant reassurance

It's not that they don't believe in themselves, it's just that they need to be reassured that everyone else does. Tell them that they are loved, that they are safe, that they can do it and that it will all be okay.

2. Expect to give reasons to be powerless against anxiety, a lot!

This is one of those daunting tasks to have to undertake, even with the most logical of anxious people.

3. Expect non routine sleep patterns

Insomnia and other sleep disorders often interrupt even the best of us but people with anxiety tend to experience it the most.

4. Expect a detailed and strict routine, all the time

This is difficult to follow, even on a great day but people with high anxiety rarely want to stray from "the plan." Please don't force them.

5. There are some problems that just can't be solved

And, that's okay. Learn to be okay with some uncertainty.

6. Replace any and all drama with stability

People with anxiety need other people who are with them, 100%. Half in or half out just doesn't cut it.

7. Expect honesty, all the time

Anyone with anxiety knows if you're holding back on anything. It's like a built in superpower. Dishonesty only adds to the feeling of anxiety.

8. Expect to try many new attempts at anxiety management techniques

What works for one, doesn't always work for another. Experiment with different techniques like mantras, essential oils, behavioural exercises, breathing techniques, quieting the mind lessons, acupuncture and so on.

9. Expect to be the decision maker

Too many choices can stress us out. I mean seriously, have you ever had to read a 10 page menu and then try to decide what to order?

10. Expect firm boundaries

Sometimes people with anxiety need to be alone. It's not because they don't like people, but rather they need this time to recharge.

"Just because they're different, it doesn't make them wrong, it just makes them different." ~ Daniel Bissett

Always with big love, integrity and's what makes us uniquely fabulous.
